first ritual objects
These were among the first things I made in clay—vessels shaped by need and reverence.
A chawan to hold morning matcha.
An urn for my parents’ ashes.
A bowl for the incense I’ve carried across moves and years.
A candle holder for zazen.
A tablet for an angel I couldn’t write.
A hand to hold a gift from a friend.
Each emerged from practice: not just ceramics, but Zen, writing, memory, and grief. They’re not designed as a set. But in making them, something quietly ceremonial took shape.
