Mitchell isn’t sure how he wound up at the hospital, where I pick him up. But he’s been there for like a week or something. He detoxed there and is now on methadone. His day’s not going so great. Honestly, it’s pretty terrible.
Problem is he’s trying to move to Florida where his dad has a room for him, but he doesn’t know what kind of methadone programs they’ve got there so he’s afraid to go until he’s completed the treatment.
Problem is now he’s got no place to stay because his girl kicked him out. That’s why I’m taking him to the homeless shelter. His girlfriend did offer to buy him his ticket to Florida, which was nice. But why can’t he just crash at her place, just for like a month? She said she wanted him off drugs, which now he is, so why’d she renew the restraining order against him?
Problem is the homeless shelter is full of users and dealers, so it’s really hard to stay clean in there. Doesn’t she understand that? You’d think if she truly wanted him off drugs, she’d let him stay with her, just until he can finish the methadone treatment and move to Florida. But she won’t, so Mitchell wants to accelerate the methadone treatment.
Problem is he’s heard that gives you withdrawal symptoms. So, he wants to do it in a detox center.
Problem is you can’t go to the detox center if you’re clean.
Mitchell guesses he’ll just have to use while he’s in the shelter so that he can get into a detox center.
